I know the snowfall is good on it's agency hither inwards Utah, but I can't assist but cling to the warm atmospheric condition equally long equally possible amongst both hands. The snowfall sure enough a beautiful sight to see, but when I remember snow, I remember ice.
About five years ago, Ryan together with I were gifted a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker for our wedding. It was basically an aircraft carrier, broke downwards in i lawsuit every duet months (usually when I was on the freeway) together with sucked downwards gas similar none other. But nosotros loved that auto together with thus much. It had the most comfortable seats (like sitting on a couch), could grip my loud music, got us from indicate Influenza A virus subtype H5N1 to B most of the time, together with allowed us to become the starting fourth dimension few years of matrimony without having to wrestle a auto payment. It has it's ain particular charm, together with I lady friend the New Yorker to this twenty-four hours (not the breaking downwards part, though....) I soundless accept it's fundamental on my laid of keys to this twenty-four hours (even though nosotros saved upwards plenty for a salubrious substitute).
The snowfall was coming downwards inwards thick chunks, it was almost by 11 at night. I was at my Mom's menage finishing upwards a few things patch Ryan was catching upwards amongst a buddy of his from high schoolhouse across town. I walked exterior to larn into the New Yorker to become alternative Ryan upwards together with speedily realized just how much snow had blanketed the ground. I was scared to decease to drive inwards the thick snow, but reasoned that Ryan together with I needed to larn dorsum to Provo earlier the morning, together with in that location was no other agency nosotros could do it but drive inwards the beast. I'm notorious for driving far also deadening inwards bad atmospheric condition conditions. WAY slow. Slower than the slow. But I made my agency towards Ryan's location (radio off, leaning equally unopen to the foggy windows equally possible, white-knuckled, praying difficult I wouldn't die).
As I went downwards the starting fourth dimension hill, I could experience a footling slipping, together with the auto tilted a bit. Ice. My pump raced. I pressed on, without slamming on the breaks, together with was able to right myself dorsum on the road.
As I drove downwards the 2nd hill, I wasn't together with thus lucky. The New Yorker started to plough sideways, together with my auto spun or together with thus until I was perpendicular to curb. I was screaming, cars were swerving all over the house behind me, together with the my auto slammed right betwixt a ability box together with post away hydrant. I reached for my jail cellular telephone phone. Battery dead. Panic. I started the auto together with tried to dorsum upwards to larn out, I heard the engine start. The wheels were jammed inwards the snow. It was useless. I got out of the auto (pushing snowfall out of the agency to larn the door open) together with started waving my hands to larn help. Influenza A virus subtype H5N1 suburban total of high schoolhouse kids stopped together with tried to assist me force the car. Nothing. Some of them went dorsum upwards street to moving ridge traffic inwards a unlike direction to avoid hitting my auto (which was jutting out into the street at the bottom of a hill). Eventually a shady boozer guy wrapped some tow cables or together with thus the dorsum of my car, together with pulled it out of the snowfall amongst his Jeep. It was scary, but I was grateful for the guy, fifty-fifty though I'm pretty sure he wasn't sober plenty to last on the route inwards the starting fourth dimension place.
Finally relieved, I thanked everyone, together with pressed on. I drove away from where my auto t-boned a curb. Not SECONDS later, a auto whizzed downwards the same unlucky hill, together with SLAMMED right into the dorsum of my car. Her auto was totaled, she was okay. I had horrible whiplash for a week. The New Yorker was totaled (meaning the bumper exclusively bent downwards a little... onetime cars are awesome similar that). Ryan's friend dropped him off to the scene of the accident. I was a mess, together with vowed to never drive inwards the snow/ice again. It's been almost five years, I've driven on the ice/in the snowfall since, but never without my tum jumping into my throat. And it's non because I don't trust myself driving inwards the snowfall (and I've lived inwards Utah my entire life together with had plenty of practice.) But H2O ice is together with thus unpredictable - I'm afraid of this college town total of students who may accept little/no experience driving inwards the icy/snowy conditions. Good luck, guys.
Oh, this is a nutrient blog? Hah. Right.
Well, this tort was sort of an accident. Not a wet-your-pants sort of accident (or wreaking-your-car-in-ice accident for that matter) but i of those serendipity moments. I unremarkably invention out my carte for the week, purchase all the ingredients at once, together with laid the recipe inwards the gild of when the ingredients volition last the most fresh. This by week, however, was much different. I had no persuasion I was making this recipe until moments earlier I started peeling the potatoes.
We are college students. Once inwards a while, nosotros accept to accept i of those "cheap meals" weeks (canned soup, french toast, Top Ramen, Scrambled eggs & Toast, together with 97 cents Mac & Cheese). It puts us dorsum on budget for the month. This was i of those weeks, together with thus if yous meet a lack of novel recipes on the weblog recently, yous instantly accept your respond why.
While browsing weblog land/Pinterest yesterday, I came across a recipe from Pumpkin Pecan Pie, and a few potatoes left over from the Creamy Carrot together with Sweet Potato Soup.) What are the odds we'd accept all the ingredients on a "cheap meal" week? It was a tally made inwards heaven, together with really like shooting fish in a barrel to throw together.
I don't accept tart pan, together with thus I used i of my drinking glass pie dishes - it worked alright. This tart was surprisingly filling together with stuffed amongst the comforting splendor of sweetness potato. Can I stress plenty how nutrient-soaked those footling devils are? I've never used them together with thus much before, together with I can't halt the madness. This tart would last nifty equally a side, or fifty-fifty an fantabulous principal class amongst fresh salad together with fruit.
Ryan thinks it needed bacon. I concur.
